The condominium residences or "metal shutter house" by Shigeru Ban is one of the brand new buildings located adjacent to the High Line Park, in NYC. The facade has motorized perforated metal shutters which serve as a privacy screen, also filtering the light beautifully. One could argue that the operable, mutant facade is a reocurring theme in contemporary architecture but Shigeru's is very fresh while blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior so subtly. The architecture is minimal and austere, and, although sitting quietly in the middle of the block, stands out for its simplicity, especially considering its neighbors (buildings by Frank Gehry and Jean Nouvel). Este e o primeiro condominio residencial de Shigeru Ban em nyc, localizado nas adjacencias do parque High Line. A fachada e composta por uma veneziana metalica motorizada, que garante a privacidade aos usuarios, alem de filtrar a luz de forma bela. Pode-se dizer que o tema da fachada mutante e recorrente na arquitetura contemporanea, mas o edificio de Shigeru e original ao proporcionar um limite muito sutil entre o interior e o exterior do edificio. A arquitetura, minima e austera, se sobressai pela simplicidade, ainda mais considerando-se os edificios imponentes na esquina da mesma rua, de Frank Gehry e Jean Nouvel.
